President Approves Hilal-i-Pakistan for UN Envoy on Islamophobia

Islamabad, July 16: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the conferment of the civil award Hilal-i-Pakistan on Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the United Nations Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, in recognition of his contributions to promoting religious tolerance and combating Islamophobia.

According to a President House press release, the award was approved on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The President also accepted the resignation of Fazal-e-Haq Abbasi as a member of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. In a separate approval, he endorsed the appointment of Zafar Hasan as a member of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), following the Prime Minister’s recommendation.
