Deputy PM Ishaq Dar Departs for China to Join Founding Ceremony of Global AI Cooperation Body

Islamabad, July 16: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar departed for Shanghai, China, on a two-day official visit to participate in the signing ceremony for the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO).

Pakistan will join WAICO as a Founding Member, with Deputy Prime Minister Dar signing the founding agreement on behalf of the country. During the visit, he will also attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance.

On the sidelines of the conference, Senator Dar is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and engage with other foreign counterparts to discuss issues of mutual interest.

During his engagements, the Deputy Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s perspective on global AI cooperation, emphasizing the priorities of developing countries. He will advocate for bridging the global AI divide, promoting equitable access to emerging technologies, strengthening capacity-building, and ensuring artificial intelligence contributes to sustainable development and shared prosperity.
