Pakistan, Portugal Agree to Strengthen Cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction
Islamabad, July 14: Pakistan and Portugal have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in disaster risk reduction (DRR), emergency preparedness, capacity building, and humanitarian response. The understanding was reached during a visit by a high-level Portuguese delegation, led by Director General for Foreign Policy Helena Malcata, to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters in Islamabad.
The delegation reviewed Pakistan’s disaster preparedness framework and exchanged views with NDMA officials on strengthening collaboration in disaster management. Both sides emphasized the importance of sharing expertise, improving institutional coordination, and building resilience against natural and human-induced disasters through sustained cooperation.
