Pakistan investing in girls’ education, women’s empowerment: Ishaq Dar
Islamabad, July 13: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing girls’ education, women’s entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and economic empowerment.
Speaking at a state banquet hosted in honor of delegates attending the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women in Islamabad, Dar welcomed participants and appreciated the contributions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat, the Assistant Secretary General of the OIC, and women delegates for making the conference a meaningful platform for dialogue and cooperation.
He said empowering women is not merely about promoting one segment of society but about strengthening the very foundation of every nation. He noted that Islam elevated the status of women by guaranteeing their rights to education, property, inheritance, enterprise, and participation in public life. The Deputy Prime Minister added that the teachings and example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) continue to provide enduring guidance on safeguarding the dignity and rights of women.
Dar also highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights and opportunities for women and ensures their participation in all spheres of national life. Referring to regional humanitarian concerns, Dar expressed solidarity with the women of Palestine, particularly those in Gaza, who continue to face immense hardships. He also voiced concern over the situation of women in IOJK, alleging continued human rights violations.
The Deputy Prime Minister further urged Afghanistan’s interim authorities to restore the fundamental rights of Afghan women and girls, including access to education, employment, and meaningful participation in society, in line with the true teachings of Islam.
Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar said the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women would serve as an important platform for strengthening dialogue, cooperation, and solidarity among member states while promoting shared values and the spirit of Islamic unity.
