Pakistan, Egypt stress dialogue, de-escalation for Middle East peace

Islamabad, July 22:Pakistan and Egypt have emphasized the urgent need for dialogue and de-escalation in the Middle East, reaffirming their commitment to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states. The understanding emerged during a dinner meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, hosted on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila.

The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of Pakistan-Egypt bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, economic development, and collaboration at regional and international forums. They also exchanged views on the wider impact of ongoing regional tensions, highlighting concerns over disruptions to global maritime trade, energy security, and the international economy. The discussions also covered the situation in Palestine, with both sides reiterating their opposition to violence against civilians and illegal settlement activities in the occupied West Bank. They reviewed the outcomes of the recent Regional Four consultations held in Cairo and reaffirmed their shared resolve to promote peace, stability, dialogue, and constructive regional cooperation
