Finance Minister Engages U.S. Development Finance Corporation on Investment Cooperation

Islamabad, July 22: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with representatives of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) in Washington, D.C., to discuss expanding investment and strengthening private sector-led development in Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister emphasized the need for accelerated support for high-impact projects in key sectors, including energy, information technology, infrastructure, minerals, food and agriculture. He noted that the DFC’s investment priorities covering ports, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, supply chains, and energy are closely aligned with Pakistan’s economic reform agenda and development objectives. Senator Aurangzeb invited a DFC delegation to visit Pakistan to identify commercially viable investment opportunities and collaborate with relevant stakeholders in preparing bankable projects and business plans. The discussions also explored the possibility of establishing a DFC presence in Pakistan and enhancing engagement through future visits by U.S. congressional delegations to promote long-term economic and investment cooperation
