DPM Ishaq Dar participates in SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting

Islamabad, July 24:Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) Meeting on Friday, joining foreign ministers from member states to discuss regional and international issues.

Upon his arrival at the meeting venue, Dar was warmly received by Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev. The two leaders exchanged greetings before the deputy prime minister joined his counterparts for the traditional family photograph marking the opening of the high-level gathering.

Ahead of the formal session, Dar attended an informal dinner hosted for the foreign ministers on Thursday evening, where participants exchanged views on key regional developments and discussed the agenda of the Council meeting.

Leading Pakistan’s delegation at the invitation of the Kyrgyz foreign minister, Dar joined representatives from China, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The SCO Council of Foreign Ministers is the organization’s third-highest decision-making forum. It reviews major international and regional developments, coordinates member states’ foreign and security policies, and prepares recommendations for consideration by the Council of Heads of State, while promoting cooperation, peace, stability and regional connectivity across the SCO region.
