ANKARA – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commemorated the 838th anniversary of the recapture of Jerusalem by Salahuddin al-Ayyubi in 1187. In a message shared on Turkish platform NSosyal, Erdogan paid tribute to Salahuddin and his soldiers, calling Jerusalem a sacred trust. He vowed to continue defending the city’s legacy, recalling its liberation after the Battle of Hattin, which ended nearly nine decades of Crusader rule.
