PM lauds Muslim World League’s role in promoting Muslim unity, interfaith harmony

Islamabad, July 13: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the Muslim World League (MWL) for its continued efforts to promote unity among the Muslim Ummah, encourage interfaith harmony, and project the true and moderate image of Islam across the world.

The remarks came during a meeting with Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, who called on the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister House. Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf Saeed Al Malky, accompanied the visiting dignitary.

Welcoming Dr. Al-Issa, the Prime Minister thanked him for participating in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women, held in Islamabad on July 12–13. He praised the Muslim World League’s global initiatives aimed at fostering tolerance, fraternity, and peaceful coexistence, while acknowledging Dr. Al-Issa’s leadership in expanding the organisation’s international outreach.

Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted the growing importance of religious dialogue and cooperation in addressing the challenges confronting the Muslim world. He noted that the MWL’s efforts in promoting understanding and moderation remain crucial at a time of heightened regional tensions, including developments involving Iran and the Gulf region, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the broader issues affecting Muslim communities worldwide.

Recalling Dr. Al-Issa’s previous visits to Pakistan, the Prime Minister appreciated his contributions to educational and social initiatives, particularly his role in the International Summit on Girls’ Education held in Islamabad. He expressed satisfaction over the expanding collaboration between Pakistan and the Muslim World League in the fields of education, interfaith dialogue, countering extremism, and combating Islamophobia.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his respectful greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and extended his best wishes to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Dr. Al-Issa thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception and praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting unity and cooperation within the Muslim world. He reaffirmed the Muslim World League’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Pakistan in religious, educational, and humanitarian sectors.
