Chairman Senate Arrives in Tehran, Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger Pakistan-Iran Ties

Tehran, July 3: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, arrived in Tehran on Thursday for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral and parliamentary relations between Pakistan and Iran.

Upon his arrival in the Iranian capital, Gilani was warmly received by the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and was accorded a Guard of Honour. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi was also present during the reception. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, senior embassy officials and high-ranking Iranian dignitaries welcomed the Senate chairman.

Following the reception, Gilani held detailed talks with the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, focusing on Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation and regional issues of mutual interest.

The two leaders later addressed a joint press conference, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral engagement and expanding parliamentary exchanges.

During his visit, the Senate chairman also met political leaders, civil society representatives, religious scholars and members of the media. Both sides reiterated their resolve to further deepen the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Iran and broaden cooperation across diverse sectors for the mutual benefit of the two neighbouring countries.
