Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departs for one day official visit to Iran

Islamabad, July 3: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Iran on a one-day official visit to express Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people following the demise of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The prime minister is accompanied by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will participate in the funeral ceremony of the late Iranian leader and convey condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved family.

The visit reflects Pakistan’s deep sense of sympathy and solidarity with the brotherly nation of Iran during this period of mourning and reaffirms the longstanding ties and close relations between the two neighbouring countries.
