Pakistan has launched its campaign for the IMO Council Election (2026-27), pledging to promote maritime safety, sustainable shipping, and global cooperation. A reception in London brought together delegates from 176 IMO member states and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the international maritime community.
At the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, US President Donald Trump thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and “my favourite Field Marshal Asim Munir” for Pakistan’s role in achieving the Gaza ceasefire, as PM Shehbaz nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his peace efforts in South Asia and the Middle East.
