9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women enters second day in Islamabad
Islamabad, July 13: The 9th Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) entered its second day in Islamabad bringing together delegates from member states to discuss policies aimed at promoting the socio-economic empowerment and development of women across the Muslim world.
The opening day featured a series of technical sessions during which participants approved the conference agenda and reviewed progress made under the OIC Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women. Delegates also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation and accelerating the implementation of initiatives supporting women’s inclusion and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister for Law and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar held separate meetings with ministers and senior officials from Iran, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Syria, Somalia and Yemen. He also met representatives of women’s development organizations and the OIC Labour Centre to strengthen collaboration on women-focused policies and programmes.
