At UN Police Summit, Pakistan Calls for Stronger Global Alliance Against Terrorism & Transnational Crime

Islamabad, July 9: Pakistan has urged the international community to strengthen cooperation in tackling terrorism and other cross-border security threats, emphasizing that no country can effectively confront these challenges alone.

Addressing police leaders from across the world at the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS-2026) in New York, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called for greater collaboration among member states to address evolving global security challenges.

Speaking during the session titled “Enhancing International Cooperation to Address Transnational Challenges,” Mohsin Naqvi identified terrorism, organized crime, cybercrime, drug trafficking, human smuggling and money laundering as major threats confronting the international community. “These threats affect all of us. No country is safe from them, and no country can deal with them alone,” the minister said, stressing that international cooperation is more important today than ever before.

As one of the key panellists at the summit, Mohsin Naqvi urged countries to build stronger partnerships among law enforcement agencies through greater trust, timely information sharing and mutual support.

“We must work together. We must trust each other. We must share information quickly. We must support one another, and we must build stronger partnerships between our law enforcement agencies,” he said.

Highlighting the rapid pace of technological advancement, the interior minister noted that criminal networks are increasingly exploiting modern technology to carry out illegal activities. He stressed the need for law enforcement agencies to adopt advanced technologies, enhance innovation and invest in the professional training and capacity-building of police personnel to effectively counter emerging threats.

Mohsin Naqvi said the summit had brought together experienced police leaders from around the world, providing a valuable opportunity to exchange practical knowledge and successful strategies for combating transnational crime.
